I AM A REVOLUTIONARY
Nothing upsets me more then the selective outrage. The conscious choice to ignore the reality and live as if your actions have no consequences. I wonder what it is that stops people from seeing the truth. Is it a lack of empathy, a feeling that your life is so insignificant that your actions don’t matter. You hear someone say Boycott McDonald’s and your first response is “what is that going to do?” Let me say that I have no problem with making conscious choices. Choosing to do your research instead of being a sheep is important but when will people realize that the unity of the people under one message matters more.
It seems that American individualism has seeped so deep into society that many have forgotten the importance and power of community. Fred Hampton knew in 1969 the only way to win the fight was through community. The Rainbow Coalition was born not through our differences, but the larger understanding that our strength came from our unity which was the greatest threat to any opposition.
Fred Hampton understood.
Aaron Bushnell understood.
As I am beginning to.
“Why don’t you live for the people. Why don’t you struggle for the people. Why don’t you die for the people.”
One of the biggest lies this country ever told is that we were one nation united under god. Let Aaron actions serve as a reminder to us all. Your solidarity and your willingness to fight for liberation is our biggest strength. Don’t underestimate the power we all hold.
